Capital Campaign Contributors
In 2011, the Stan and Lydia Bauman family donated money to build a home for the Merrill City Band in Normal Park. The beautiful gazebo has been used for concerts and many other events ever since. The band wants to give back to a very supportive community by taking the lead in a fund drive to develop the park for even more people to use.
A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all Wednesday night concert audience members who buy 50/50 raffle tickets.
The new facility was ready for use by all community members in 2018. It includes restrooms, a concession stand, a warming house, and storage area. Additional trees, new walkways, benches, historic lighting, bike racks, landscaping, more picnic tables, and permanent trash bins are also on the list. In addition to the fund drive the band is spearheading, the Optimist Club is working to raise funds to put in a small ADA compliant playground and work will get underway in the summer of 2019.
The Capital Campaign’s goal is to raise $599,602, with about 58% of that going to park development. We’ve received contributions to date fromcorporations, community organizations and foundations, small businesses, and individuals. Donations have been in amounts from $5 up to $75,000, as well as many in-kind donations that help raise funds.
